Traditional Textile Training
In 2007-2008, over the course of ten months, WAA offered monthly textile training courses in the outlying community of Patacancha. Carmen Berrio Huaman was the designated trainer for these programs and is an industrious and huge-hearted Cusquenian, who shared with the participating communities her expertise derived from over 20 years experience in the business of Peruvian Handicrafts and 10 years as a certified trainer of traditional textile arts. We also worked in the community of Kuncani, which is even more outlying than Patacancha and therefore monthly travel to participate in other WAA programs was impractical. In this case, WAA made a five-day training expedition to the community where 29 participants received intensive training. .
